Trying to develop better habits…

My blogging and journaling have gotten really bad as of late. I stare at the computer wondering if anyone would want to look at my posts (other than my few, favorite and faithful readers) and came to realize that it doesn’t matter, does it? I should be doing this for myself and I have not. I’ve left myself out of the picture. (Bad me) So, while slinking around the internet looking for homeschool inspiration I found the Homeschool Chick and her gaggle of followers! She hosts a ‘journal’ every week and I thought I would use the questions to get myself started on a good habit, hopefully focusing my thoughts for the upcoming week.

In my life this week…

This week was a bit challenging. Too many people around me are going through some tough things and I feel helpless. I know I can’t fix them. I can give advice if wanted, listen to the rants and help wipe the tears, but I can’t fix anything. It breaks my heart. Loved ones far away, friends near and I feel helpless.

In our homeschool this week…

It has been a quiet week for Mary and her studies. She has gotten ahead of some of her subjects and we are waiting for some new material to arrive. With the holidays approaching we are planning some baking. She loves to bake, although I suspect she’d rather bake with her favorite neighbor than me. That’s quite alright. We have awesome neighbors.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…

I am usually looking for tips or advice from others. I don’t normally offer advice, unless asked.

I am inspired by…

my daughter! She is so smart and willing to do what needs to be done to get a good education. She knows being homeschooled that this largely falls on her own shoulders. She has so many plans and ideas for her future I hope I can remain a positive force with her for many years to come.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

Not too much traveling around any time soon, I think, but still hoping to get some fun field trips in soon. With the winter upon us, things are limited around here, but we’ll think of something!

My favorite thing this week was…

My favorite thing this week was getting our Christmas tree up! Mary wanted to do the tree differently this year. She didn’t want all our traditional ornaments up. We found some very inexpensive ornaments at Target in the colors she wanted so she was good to go! The tree turned out beautifully! I have a small Charlie Brownish tree downstairs that I decorated so we would have some lights and sparkles down there, too.

Things I’m working on…

I am working on SO many things it makes my head spin. I do that sometimes. Not the head spinning thing, but the too many projects thing. I have been making mini photo albums, crocheting a LOT and just starting knitting a shawl for a dear young woman who is soon going in for chemo and radiation.

I’m reading…

I am currently reading the third novel of a trilogy by Beverly Cleary. The title escapes me at the moment and I really don’t want to run upstairs to look, but it’s a story about an Amish girl and her struggles. I didn’t think I would like it as I read the first novel, but by the end of it I was hooked and had to read the other two.

I’m grateful for…

I am SO grateful for my loving husband who supports me in nearly everything I do. I know he loves me unconditionally and sometimes I really wonder why. I sure he wonders why, too!

I’m praying for…

Constant prayers for those in my life who are struggling with what they have going on. They are always on my mind.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

A break in the day for Mary! This IS the dog’s bed, but she goes in there to visit… Our neighbor’s dog (the brown one in the front) was over for a play date and Mary couldn’t resist getting them all in the cage and playing with them.

This is a type of post I’m going to do on Friday’s to sort of wrap up the week’s happenings. We’ll see how this shapes up!

I read that same Beverly Lewis trilogy and really enjoyed it...her books always make me want to simplify my life. It sounds like you're off to a good start on your Christmas preparations!

Stoppin' by from the Homeschool Mother's Journal!

That must be one big crate with 3 dogs AND a girl! LOL Cute!

Will you be sharing a photo of your Christmas tree? We're putting ours up later this evening and doing it differently too...smaller so we can place it in our big bay window to see it lit up from the outside! LOL Not 7 footer this year!
