Running on empty.

So my back went out again. Another trip around the same old circle of aches and pains that sometimes leave me pretty much useless.

It started out innocent enough. Saturday I was sweeping up the gigantic balls of fur that accumulate downstairs when I felt that familiar twinge.

Damn.

Had plans to head to Charleston for a ‘Debbie’ day. Had to cancel. Maybe Friday. We’ll see.

The pinched nerve thing is pretty much gone but my back is SORE!! And I’m not crawling up the stairs any more.

Mary and I ventured out for a couple of errands yesterday which included the mall. I know. Bad idea. But it went well. It was busy and the parking lot was pretty full for a Tuesday, but we knew where we wanted to go inside and got that taken care of easily. It took us forever to get through it all, though, since I’m walking slower than a toddler. Codger speed, is more like it. All that was missing was the walker.

By the time we got home I was pretty much done for the day. I tried to relax downstairs, but the couch really hurt my back, so I ended up going up to bed for a while. Even put my pj’s on. It wasn’t long, though, before I heard the dogs barking. Someone was here. I heard Mary talking to someone downstairs, got dressed, and found friends of Bill’s from work here. They came to pick up the table we were selling.

The pub table I bought in Florida has been gathering dust in the garage. Bill mentioned one of the guys at work looking for one, so I suggested they come by to see if they’d like the pub table. I love that table, but it’s just too big for this place and a lot bigger than we need, so it will get better use now.

Bill got home shortly and he helped load up the table and chairs for the trip to its new home.

Friday, Mary and I went downtown to walk around a little bit. She loves the antique store on River/Bay Street. Three floors of old treasures! She is fascinated by all the old stuff! And she pretty much looked at everything! She’s so funny.

From there we went down to River Street to walk through some stores to see what there was to see. We found another tall ship docked on the river.

Mary and a Tall Ship

Mary isn’t very interested in them, but I talked her into a picture.

We wandered a bit, then headed home, but not before a little bit more of camera torture.

Caught in the elevator

Trapped in the elevator at the parking garage with mom and a camera. A teenager’s worst nightmare. Well, at least for now.

Thought I’d share this cute picture!

Bill and his pets

All the pets sitting with Bill at one time! This doesn’t happen too often. Oreo is on the back of the chair, checking to see if Bill’s hair is dry from his shower. Rusty hopped up and lay down, then Annabell, being the jealous female that she is, had to jump up there, too. And Chloe is doing what she normally does; lounging on the arm of the chair and Bill, staring at him with that blank stare she has, reminding Bill that it’s his job to pet her.

Bill says he doesn’t like all that attention, but I know better.
