About a year ago we were moving boxes yet again to a new house. This year, though, we are not.
(slightly proud of myself)
There has been a lot of teasing and joking that went with moving so much over the years, but we finally feel at home. Unless there’s a big lottery win, I don’t see us moving again will just concentrate on getting up and down the stairs in our old age.
So, you’ve noticed the blog change. Struck by the holiday to come I went to add some Christmas cheer to the blog, but, alas, have forgotten how to do it, even though I just changed it less than a month ago. Senility is not a good thing.
Thanksgiving came and went in a flurry of turkey feathers. The plan was to go to Charleston, but my back was going out and I was fearful of not being able to walk well for a length of time, so I stayed home with the heavenly heating pad while Bill and Mary joined Mike, Debbie and her folks for a Thanksgiving feast. The long drive the prior weekend really did me in, I think. Better now, though, I’m still taking care and not walking too much, too fast, for too long.
Bill and I went to the flea market here in Savannah Saturday to trade in the books we’ve read. There’s a guy there with tons of books really cheap and gives us credit back for any we trade with him. Bag full, we wandered a bit, but soon we were on our way home.
On the 19th of November, Debbie and I joined the scrappin’ ladies in Ebenezer for an all day crop. We didn’t stay the full 12 hours, but had a really fun time! Debbie hadn’t been to a crop and really enjoyed herself listening to everyone chatter and playing with pictures.
We made a mini album while there, the mini album Queen, Cecile, brought it to life for us. It is awesome! I just love it! I’ve made a second one already and plan on more, maybe even getting some up on eBay.
I had a bit of trouble with the one that is in progress now. There’s quite a bit of scoring involved and, while I didn’t have this problem at the crop, I kept cutting through the paper instead of making a good score for a nice fold. Aggravated beyond belief, I headed to Michael’s and AC Moore on Friday afternoon, against my better judgment, but wanting to solve my stupid problem. The problem wasn’t stupid as much as me being stupid, but we won’t go there.
I have seen tools for scoring before and had a vision in my head of what I thought it looked like, so Mary and I scoured Michael’s first to no avail, looking for the ever elusive prize. We did, however, buy a couple of things using our magical coupons before leaving.
We headed back toward home and stopped at AC Moore. One more attempt, then I’d have to give up until we could make a trip to Statesboro and Hobby Lobby.
We were in luck, though, and found a handy-dandy scoring tool!
It wasn’t what I remembered and was a brand I don’t normally buy, but I was desperate and it was on sale.
Had to get it.
Martha Steward finally got some of my money.
Bill hauled the tree up from the garage on Sunday. Last year we had it downstairs, which I prefer. We’re downstairs a lot and I like to look at it at night, lights sparkling, tinsel… well, tinseling. This year it is upstairs, though, in front of the windows. Mary wanted to do all blue and silver, so we went to Target to get some ornaments. Plastic. Cheap. But lots of glitter. So much glitter!
She’s began decorating the deck out front, too. The garland is wrapped around the banister, the lights are wrapped around the slats. It’s going to light up beautifully! Maybe. If Dad remembers to stop and get some replacement bulbs on his way home so Mary can finish creating.
For downstairs we have a Charlie Brown style tree. I don’t really know when we acquired this, but it’s a poor, cheap little thing and I’m going to decorate it up as best I can so I can have some sparkle and glitter downstairs. Trust me, it’ll be fun. Until the cat finds it.
I’ve even betrayed my membership to the Procrastinator’s Club, of which I’ve been a member for quite some time, and have my Christmas cards done! The envelopes are addressed, the cards inside, just waiting to add Mary pictures to those that will receive those. I’ll just need stamps and off to the post office and places beyond before you know it!
I’ll be hanging onto the club member’s cards until the 26th, so mums the word.

Love the new blog...and if you want some help remembering how to change it later, just let me know!
I hope your back is doing a lot better. Your Thanksgiving table was beautiful, and I can't wait to see all the Christmas things festooned about the house! Pictures! Pictures! I am SUPER proud of you having your cards ready...which reminds me. I need to think about getting some!
Love you! ♥
